Coaches - Code of Conduct
Being a coach can have a very profound effect on the social, emotional, and physical development of an athlete of any age. Each player’s experience on the field, whether positive or negative may last their entire lifetime. The Camrose Minor Ball Association strives to assure that the coach/athlete relationship and learning environment is always a positive experience so that each player’s unique development can be maximized. Above all, a CMBA coach must exhibit the highest ethical and moral qualities while being a strong role model for each of the players he or she coaches. As a coach, you play an integral role in ensuring that these core values are met.
As a coach for the Consort Minor Ball, I will:
• make wise use of the authority of the position and make decisions in the best interest of athletes
• strive to preserve the present and future health and well-being of athletes
• seek to be conscious of any conflict or potential conflict of interest. Openly disclose any such conflict and offer to remove themselves when a conflict arises
• foster self-esteem among athletes • avoid situations that may affect objectivity or partiality of coaching duties • abstain from all behaviors considered to be harassment or inappropriate relations with an athlete
• ensure that everyone is treated equally, regardless of age, ancestry, colour, race, citizenship, ethnic origin, place of origin, language, creed, religion, athletic potential, disability, family status, marital status, gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation • respect the principles, rules, and policies of CMB
• respect game officials and accept their decisions without questioning their integrity
• be reasonable when scheduling games and practices remembering that the players on my team have other interests and obligations • teach the players on my team to play fairly and to respect the rules, the officials, their opponents and their teammates
• ensure all players on the team receive equal instruction, support and fair playing time.
